If my review were based only on taste and texture, I would give these bars a single star rating or less. But being familiar with the world of sports supplements, I understand the need for substance over style.
That said, the two flavors I tried (chocolate coconut and smores) were god-awful. The flavor was poor and the dry texture even worse. They look and taste like large cardboard bricks. I never intend on eating one again. Nevertheless, aside from the high calorie content, Chef-Jay has created a bar that really provides athletes with the nutrition they need. I also like the fact that there is no fractionated palm kernel oil in these bars. This keeps the fat content relatively low compared to other bars. The high saturated fat content is the downfall of most protein bars, in my opinion. Of course, the lack of palm oil is probably why they taste so bad.
If you're not too concerned about fat content and more worried about taste, go with Labrada, Met-RX, ISS, or Clif.

I would not exchange any other bar with these bars. They are delicious, high in protein and low in carbs. They help you feel full and are a real 'good and delicious' meal replacement.

These bars are great tasting and filling. So why a low rating? This summer when I discovered the bars the label read only 330 calories. However, the manufacturer claimed an incorrect calorie value. Now they report 100 extra calories. They were just too good to be true.
